AS Photography Banner
I made this banner for the AS photography page on the Harlow College Photography blog. I put these photographs together too keep a theme of having a person or part of a person as the main subject in the photograph, whist using photographs from different shoots.
The first photograph of the shoes is from my Reflection shoot. i like this one as the shoe are central, and the angle is different as the camera is looking down on the shoes. When editing, I made the colours brighter and added more contrast originally, before desaturating it, but not so I lost all the colour. I then made it slightly darker.
The second photograph is from an extra shoot. I chose to include this photo as I like how the main subject fills up half of the composition, focusing on her shoulder area, and cutting out her face. I also like how the colour of the bricks and the colours in the jumper are similar, but have different tones. When editing this, I made the colours brighter, enhanced the saturation, and then added more contrast.
I put in the picture of the back of the two girls from an extra shoot as it shows selective colour. I quite like this example, as the two main colours contrast, with one girls hair being a light blonde and the other a red-brown colour. Originally, this photograph was wider, but I cropped it as the composition is better with only half of their heads. When editing, I enhanced the contrast and colours first before using the lasso to select where I wanted colour and where I wanted to desaturate the colour.
The last photo is from Reflection. I included this as I like how dark the photograph is, and how even though the main subject is not central or taking up most of the space, its clear that the person and her shadow are the subject. When editing, I changed the curves so that the shadow was darkened and the light was brighter. After, I increased the saturation so that the muddy puddle would stand out, I then desaturated it, so that only the puddle had colour.
Overall, these are most likely some of my favourite photographs I have taken so far, as I prefer taking photographs involving people. But out of the above photographs, the last one is my favourite as it shows reflecting in a different way, reflecting a shadow and not the exact image of the person. I also like the colour and editing in this one better as well.
