Reflection Work Diary 16th October 2012

Evaluation;

In this shoot we had to take photographs showing reflection. This could be any type of reflection that I wanted. I took photographs of various different types of reflection such as; shadow, mirrors, water and people copying each others actions. This has been one of my favourite shoots, as it could be very creative and I got quite a lot of good photographs. My favourite photos and the ones that worked out best were the ones of refection and shadow in puddles. I like these best as I like how the colours look and the composition was good. The photographs that did not work as well as I hoped were the ones where I had two people copying each others actions. Overall, the shoot turned out well, and I am happy with the result.

This is my favourite image from the shoot. I like this best as I think overall it works well, and shows a different type of reflection other than a mirror, as it shows the shadow. My favorite thing about this photograph is the colours, It is very dark and grey, which makes the muddy puddle stand out. I think the colours in this and the amount of shadow create a dark, and slightly gothic feel to the photograph. The composition  is good as the model takes up half of the composition, and the shadow takes up the rest.

I also like this photograph as well. I like this as it is different, and is not reflecting and image of something, but the light is reflected off of the shoes. I think the colour in this is good as well, dark, yet quite vivid. I like the composition in this as the shoes are central, and the rest of the space is simple, just grass. This photograph is not crowded so it is obvious what the focus of this image is. I think this image works well as part of reflection, as it goes against the typical type of reflection and reflects light instead.

Idea Development;

I really enjoyed taking photographs showing relfection, as it could be interpreted any way I wanted, and could be imaginative. I would like to develop on this work, espcially developing the shadow reflection as I think that worked out really well, and could be developed. Especially as the weather is suitable at this time of year, which adds to the feel of the photograph. I would like to take photos in swappy or muddy areas, such as near ditches and on fields.

I like the idea of taking photographs like this one, as I like the eeriee feel to it. I like how the photograph is dark and in shadow, so presumably taken at night. I like there is just a strip of light cutting through the composition where the person is. The shadow is blurred, but you can still make out that is the shadow of a person. Although this is different to what I origonally wanted to do, I like how it looks and fits in with the feel of the shoot I want to do and is similar to my idea and fits in.

I like this photograph as it is quite similar to mine, but the feel is slightly different. I like how is quite a dismal photograph, yet the reflection of the model is quite happy, as it looks as if she is dancing. Although the reflection is a shadow, it does show reflection as well due to the light. I like how you can only see a small part of the models leg, and almost the whole composition is filled with the shadow. The fact that it is in black and white adds to the effect I think, but personally, I would make it slightly darker, and add some brown colours to make it seem more sepia and vintage.
