Work Record November 30th 2012

Preparation;
As this shoot is connected to a previous shoot where I used myself as the subject, I will also be the subject for this shoot. To create the doll effect, I will be using facepaints and wearing a wig. The colours I plan on using are bright pinks to contrast the colours in my last shoot.  This shoot will relate to the formal element, form. I got the idea of this shoot from my previous shoot as my theme is to create contrasting ideas

These are two photographs I got inspiration and ideas from. I like the simplicity of these, and the use of colour. Although I like the idea of the head being held and away from the body, I will not be using this idea as it makes it look slightly dark, which is not what I want.

To prepare I need to;
·         Plan what face paints and colours I am going to use
·         Set up the camera correctly
·         Plan what poses and angles I am going to use to show the meaning of the shoot

What I hope to achieve;
During this shoot I hope to create a contrasting shoot to my previous darker one with the same doll theme. I want to show happier emotions and ideas in contrast to darker ones.

What I actually achieved;
I am quite happy with this shoot as I achieved what I wanted, which was a contrasting shoot to my previous one. I achieved this with the use of colour. I decided to use pinks as it created a more typical doll look. To make the colour stand out and show a more innocent look, I used a white background. This shoot shows tone and colour due to the use of colour, and form due to the positions and angles. The photographs that worked better were where I was positioned more central, with both lights on.
When editing some of the better photographs, I decided to try out different effects and styles. I was quite successful with these effects and they fit in well with  the look I was creating.

This is my favourite edit from this shoot. I like this as it shows a sort of movement and speed through the blur and drag of the colours. I chose to use a pink colour for this as that is the colour that  I used for my hair and makeup . I think the composition in this is important as the fact I am just to the right instead of central means I could drag the image. Although it was a happy shoot, this looks slightly darker due to the expression.

I like this photo due the pose and the colours. I like how I covered my eyes as if I do not want to look at something, which makes it seem more innocent. During the shoot, I had both of the lights on and was standing fairly close and central, meaning the photo came out very bright enhancing the tones and colour. I like how I am central as this emphasises my importance in the photograph. When editing, I just enhanced the pink colours and the blues slightly to make them stronger and more vivid.

I like this as it is quite simple. During the shoot, I decided to use tape over my mouth and look like I am saying to be quite. This looks innocent and like I am also hiding something. For this I decided to create a puzzle look. I done this as I did not want to over edit the photograph. I quite like this effect with this photograph as I think it enhances the slight mystery and the loose puzzle pieces make it seem like there is something I am hiding.

What I am going to do next;

As I have now completed the contrasting look surrounding the doll idea. I am really happy with the two different ideas together and I am happy with how the two separate shoots went and the overall finished result.
As this idea is now complete I am going to move away from this idea and work on my other ideas. During my next shoot I will shoot a contrasting idea for my previous ballet shoot.
